In recent times, Harley-Davidson has produced special edition motorcycles for fire fighters, but these machines aren't actually made for fighting fires. Fire Departments first became motorized in 1906 and some of them experimented with motorcycle based units. Motorcycles were used both for transportation, most likely for the Chief, as well as being outfitted with fire extinguishers and other equipment.
As usual, Harley wasn't the only motorcycle manufacturer used by Fire Departments. Indian motorcycles were also used and Indian even produced a factory made machine called the Indian Fire Patrol.
